AFTER THE MUSIC FOUNDATION-
Founder Gary D Tackett
The music industry in Idaho reflects a dynamic blend of cultural traditions and modern growth, characterized by its vibrant grassroots scene and emerging opportunities. While the state may not be traditionally associated with major music hubs, its unique cultural heritage and regional talent contribute significantly to its artistic identity.
Traditional and Folk Influences
Idaho has a rich history in music, exemplified by initiatives like the Idaho Folk Song Project. This project captured traditional songs and stories across the state, documenting the cultural fabric of Idaho communities. Events like “Song Swaps” and publications such as Way Out in Idaho highlight the storytelling and music traditions deeply rooted in the state’s history.
Contemporary Music Scene
Today, Idaho’s music industry is driven by local artists, independent venues, and community support. Cities like Boise host notable music events such as the Treefort Music Fest, a platform for emerging talent that has gained national recognition. Additionally, artists with Idaho roots, continue to connect the local scene with broader audiences. But they too, are often overlooked as a contributing part of society, and there is no support mechanism in place for this impactful group of creative human beings. That is where After the Music Foundation comes in. After the Music Foundation, Inc. is a 501© 3 Nonprofit that specifically helps musicians in the State of Idaho during times of crisis. From Medical needs, Lost Livelihood (Instrument replacement due to theft, or natural causes), and Funeral Expenses ( Simple cremation up to $1000.00 at funeral of choice).
Economic Impact
The music and broader creative industries contribute significantly to Idaho’s economy. The Idaho Department of Commerce identifies cultural tourism and creative industries as key drivers of economic growth. Festivals, music venues, and regional arts organizations provide employment and support local businesses, while also attracting tourism.
Challenges and Opportunities
While Idaho’s music industry benefits from strong community engagement, it faces challenges such as limited large-scale venues and resources for artist development. However, the state’s growing population and increasing investment in the arts suggest potential for expansion. Initiatives supporting arts education and creative entrepreneurship are essential for sustaining this growth.
In summary, Idaho’s music industry reflects its unique cultural heritage and evolving creative landscape, offering opportunities for both preservation and innovation. With continued investment in its artistic communities, Idaho is poised to strengthen its position as a regional cultural hub.
***After the Music Foundation was formed by world class musician and business development professional Gary D Tackett Sr, who has been a musician, tour manager, and band leader for artists such as Merle Haggard, and Billy Currington.

BIO:
"Guitarist to the Stars" Gary Tackett
Influenced by the powerful Electric and Acoustic work of Eric Clapton as well as the heartfelt songwriting of Merle Haggard, Gary Tackett has made a name for himself in the world of Blues, Rock, and Country. This skilled singer-songwriter and guitarist exemplifies a rare display of mastery across all genres.
Biography
The "Guitarist to the Stars"; Gary Tackett is an artist whose melodic journey has graced some of the most iconic stages and resonated through various genres. With an impressive portfolio and a style that melds the Coolness of Austin, the Twang of Bakersfield, the Soul of Memphis, and the Style of Nashville,
Tackett's music is a blend of evocative storytelling and virtuosic guitar performances.
Hailing from the heart of California, Gary Tackett's musical journey began at an early age. Raised amidst the Honky Tonks, where renowned bands such as Merle Haggard and Buck Owens roamed,
Tackett was immersed in a world of musical greatness. Fueled by curiosity and an innate passion, Tackett embarked on a musical odyssey that led him from the Central Valley to the vibrant hub of Los
Angeles and eventually to the illustrious stages of Nashville.
Tackett's guitar-driven rockin roadhouse blues/R&B style is a sonic marvel that captures the essence of legends like David Lindley, Joe Walsh, and Duane Allman.
His extraordinary slide playing,
reminiscent of Lindley's finesse, adds a dynamic layer to his musical canvas.
In 1989, Tackett realized
a dream, recording the "Blue Jungle" album alongside the iconic Merle Haggard and the Strangers.
From session work to touring, Tackett's journey took a compelling twist when he joined country superstar Vern Gosdin's ensemble, a recommendation made by none other than Merle Haggard. This
marked the beginning of Tackett's Nashville chapter, which would see him perform with renowned
names like Eddy Raven and the remarkable Tammy Cochran.
However, it was Tackett's meeting with a promising singer named Billy Currington in a Gallatin pawn shop that would become a pivotal moment. Their instant connection led Tackett to become Currington's band leader, tour manager, and guitarist. Guiding Currington's early musical steps.
With an impressive career as both a performer and a visionary, Tackett's talents extend beyond the stage.
This seasoned artist is the mastermind behind innovative musical instrument accessories, including the
D-Slyde, a unique half-round D-shaped guitar slide licensed to D'Addario.
As a prolific songwriter, with a catalog of over 50 unrecorded songs, Gary Tackett sets his sights on new horizons, with a
long-term goal to share his songwriting and guitar playing with the world. Aiming to grace theaters nationwide and
mesmerize audiences at festivals/fairs, concerts, and cruises worldwide. Tackett's vision transcends borders and
cultures, unifying hearts and minds with his craft.

On top of that he's a fantastic singer. He's really got it all, including vast experience. I love this guy." DW”
