Gary's style is pure Rockin' Roadhouse Guitar Driven Blues/R&B with a hint of Country. From Delbert McClinton to Eric Clapton, Merle Haggard to CCR. Rockin' originals and revved up versions of classic favorites!
Gary spent the early 80's in Los Angeles learning the music ropes from some of the greats, playing places like the Palomino and The Whiskey. He also played in a band with Dennis Walker who was writing and producing BB KING, ROBERT CRAY, LOWELL FULSON, PHILLIP WALKER for HIGHTONE, and became a huge influence on his Blues aspirations.
Then in 1989, Gary's dream came true by getting to play guitar on a Merle Haggard record. He recorded the "Blue Jungle" album with Merle and the Strangers at Merle's studio in N. California.
"That was my dream come true, to get my name on a Merle Haggard record"...says Gary.
Gary moved to Nashville in 1992 and spent the next 15 years there, touring with Vern Gosdin, Eddy Raven, and also met a guy named Billy Currington in a pawn shop in Gallatin TN. "Billy calls me one day, and says I got a record deal, can you put a band together for me"? I "I said hell yeah". "We spent the next few years touring and did Billy's first Grand Ole Opry appearance". "Playing the Opry was just another dream come true". Gary also played in the West Coast version of "Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours" playing guitar on a few albums as well as recording a PBS Special.
Now residing in the great state of Idaho to raise his family, Gary looks forward to hitting the road again very soon supporting a new album to be recorded this year in Nashville, TN. "This is a great place to come home to after a tour".
Gary has opened shows for Gregg Allman, Too Slim, Tinsley Ellis, Coco Montoya, Merle Haggard, George Strait, Alabama, Restless Heart, The Tubes, Southern Pacific, Dessert Rose Band, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, Brooks & Dunn, just to name a few!

Here is what some top music industry insiders have to say about Gary Tackett.
“Gary, "I've known Gary a long time, and I've watched him grow. Older and wiser now he's become a truly major league song writer. Straight ahead, honest, from the heart, lyrics and a dynamic melodic sense. And guitar? Come on. Romping blues, country, cool jazz, rock, gospel he can do it all. And with fire. On top of that he's a fantastic singer. He's really got it all, including vast experience. I love this guy." DW”
- Dennis Walker -Producer (BB King, Robert Cray, Phillip Walker, Lowell Fulson)
